The Human Resources department at our Home Office in Toronto is currently recruiting for the position of Human Resources Manager, Corporate , reporting to the Director, Human Resources, Corporate.

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for supporting the talent strategy that supports the entire employee life cycle, including sourcing and selecting, on-boarding, performance management, employee engagement, developing high potentials and resolving employee relations issues. This role coaches and mentors management roles to strengthen their overall people management skills, coaching senior management and their managers and implementing succession planning strategies that meet the current and future needs of the business and driving the overall corporate strategy and objectives. This role will also assist with the coordination and ongoing development of the business's occupational health & safety programs. Success within this role will be measured by the ability to provide a safe and healthy workplace for employees and to reduce work related injuries and accidents.

  • Aid managers in identifying internal candidates from an established talent bench utilizing the talent review and performance management data;
  • Actively participate in the interview process for open positions, identifying positive qualifications as well as those that may be of concern. Partners in all final hiring decisions for management level candidates;
  • Follow up with all newly hired and promoted managers within their first 90 days to conduct pulse interviews and ensure they have been on-boarded as per the company programs;
  • Create a talent strategy in conjunction with the Learning and Development senior team, that outlines the priorities and deliverables for the talent team for the year and is in line with the business strategy plan and the larger HR team strategic plan;
  • Deliver workshops and ensure maximum knowledge transfer to employees during training sessions;
Performance Management:
  • Manage the annual talent review process with the business to include: identification of High Potentials, succession planning, selection, promotion and transfer of internal candidates for growth positions;
  • Focus on strategic and critical roles, establishing a specific game plan and time and action calendar to improve;
  • In conjunction with managers, create action plans for underperforming employees that provides them with the direction and support needed to improve their performance;
  • Work in conjunction with the Director, L&D, senior leaders and the Director, HR in determining the most value-add training needs based requests and gaps identified thought the talent review process;
  • Provide advice and support to employees in areas of the Cineplex performance Check-ins;
  • Using Employee Opinion Survey and Internal Service Standards results as a starting point, assess overall engagement and partner with people leaders to address and improve upon poor results;
Employee Relations:
  • Proactively address employee relations issues by coaching on how to investigate and address situations in adherence with the law and our policies and practices at Cineplex;
  • Conduct exit interviews for all full time salaried employees who voluntarily resign and identify themes and trends for Corporate HR to assess and address if needed;
  • Provide effective coaching, counseling and progressive disciplinary strategies on all employee relations issues, up to and including terminations;
  • Partner with managers on high risk/complex written communications/discipline to be administered ensuring consistency amongst regions and locations.
  • 4-6 years' relevant Human Resources experience with a focus on Employee Relations
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or HR certification preferred. CHRP/CHRL designation an asset
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant provincial employment standards and legislation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to operate effectively in a busy multi-location environment
  • Understanding of org structure for multi-unit big box organizations
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Experience delivering training content
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with extreme professionalism and discretion
  • Sound judgment and have the ability to work within all levels of the company
  • Excellent customer service, understands a "hands on approach" to providing HR support
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong MS Office skills and a familiarity with performance management tools
  • Strong communication/facilitation skills
  • Experience with HRIS systems and strong technical abilities
  • Willing to travel 35% of the time
